About the festival

 

The International Organ Festival Haarlem is organised by the foundation 'Stichting Internationaal Orgelconcours'.

The board:
Hans Koenders (chairman), Peter van Voorst (treasurer), Stephen Taylor (secretary), Jaap Lampe, Adriaan Helmig, Cynthia Wilson and Luc Ponet.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Wolff is honorary member of the board.

Artistic Committee: Stephen Taylor (chairman), Leo van Doeselaar, Jos van der Kooy, Anton Pauw, Mayke Nas, Dirk Luijmes, Bernard Winsemius

Stichting Internationaal Orgelconcours is registered at the Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce, no. 41223348.

The festival was founded on the initiative of the City of Haarlem in order to involve the Müller organ in the Holland Festival. The first International Improvisation Competition took place in 1951, the International Summer Academy in 1955. Since 1986, the festival has taken place biennially during the month of July. The 50th festival will be held  in 2014.

The festival is supported financially by the Haarlem City Council and the ‘Nederlands Fonds voor de Podiumkunsten+’.
