International Summer Academy for Organists 16 - 28 July 2012

 

The Haarlem YoungComposers masterclass is an ongoing project aimed to encourage young composers to write innovative music for the organ. A maximum of four new works, composed specifically for the Müller organ in the Bavokerk, will be selected for performance in a festival recital on Monday 23 July 2012. This recital will be repeated in Leipzig in July 2013 during the European Organ Academy. 

 

The new pieces will be discussed in a six-session masterclass directed by Zsigmond Szathmáry (16-20 and 23 July). The selected composers are obliged to attend the entire masterclass. This is free of charge, but does not include the costs of travel, accommodation etc. The Haarlem festival is in principal responsible for engaging young organists to perform the selected pieces.
