Lorenzo Ghielmi has devoted many years to the study and performance of Renaissance and Baroque music. He wrote a book on Nicolaus Bruhns, and many studies on organ matters relating to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and on Bach interpretation. He is organist of the Basilica di San Simpliciano in Milan. Ghielmi teaches organ, harpsichord and chamber music at the Istituto di Musica Antica, a department of the Accademia Internazionale della Musica in Milan. In 2006 he was appointed at the Schola Cantorum in Basel.
