Stefan Engels studied in Aachen, Düsseldorf and Cologne. From 1993 until 1998 he pursued further organ studies in Chicago and Dallas. In 1998 he was awarded the ‘Concerto Gold Medal’ at the Calgary International Organ Competition. In 2014, Stefan Engels was appointed Professor of Organ at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Prior to that he taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts ‘Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’ in Leipzig, Germany from 2005 until 2015, and the Organ Department at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey (1999-2005).
He founded and served as artistic director of the European Organ Academy Leipzig. As an advocate and specialist for the music of the late-Romantic German composer Sigfrid Karg-Elert, he founded the Karg-Elert Festival in Leipzig. This specialization has resulted in the world premiere recording of the complete organ works of Karg-Elert. This year Stefan Engels is professor of the masterclasses on repertoire by Sigfrid Karg-Elert, Max Reger, Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy at the Haarlem International Summer Academy for Organists.

 

Zuzana Ferjenčíková is a Slovak organist, pianist and composer. She studied at the Conservatory in Banská Bystrica and at the universities in Bratislava and Vienna with Milan Hric, J. V. Michalko and Peter Planyavsky. She has been influenced especially by the teaching of and collaboration with Jean Guillou. She won numerous prizes in international competitions and in 2004 she was the first woman to be awarded the First Prize at the International Organ Improvisation Competition in Haarlem.
She has founded the Vienna Franz Liszt Society and serves as its president. Regularly she gives masterclasses and takes part in international organ competition juries. Since 2015 she lives in Switzerland and follows an intense concert career.
From September 2021 she is appointed professor for organ at Codarts in Rotterdam. This year she is member of the jury of the Haarlem International Organ Improvisation Competition.
